How Many Days Do I Need to Stay in the Hospital?

One of the most profound benefits of Endoscopic Spine Surgery is the significantly reduced hospital length of stay.

In the past, traditional open back surgery often required a hospital stay of 3 to 5 days, sometimes longer. However, because the 8-millimeter endoscopic approach preserves the spinal muscles and causes minimal tissue trauma, post-operative pain is remarkably lower. As a result, if without any complications, the vast majority of our patients only need to stay in the hospital for 1 to 2 nights.

The Recovery Protocol

• The Day of Surgery (Day 0): Once you recover from the anesthesia, you will likely notice that the radiating leg pain has significantly diminished. Within just a few hours, most patients are encouraged and able to stand up and walk with minimal assistance.
• The Next Day (Day 1): During the morning assessment, if the wound is clean, you are walking steadily, and your surgical pain is well-managed with oral medication, you will usually be cleared to return home.

Why 1-2 Nights?

The primary reason for the stay is for close observation. We want to ensure that your neurological function is perfect and that you feel entirely confident on your feet before you leave our care.
